Thankful Beyond Measure
At times we need to stop and evaluate where we are in life. When we do most of us will find that we should be “thankful beyond measure.” Occasionally, when things aren’t going the way we want them to go we want to throw ourselves a pity party. Oh poor me, woe is me. When you find yourself discouraged, stop and consider the blessings God has given you.
This week I took the time to stop and consider the blessings God has given me. I am amazed, God has blessed me so much more than I deserve. Not so many years ago I left Alabama broken. Financially, emotionally, mentally, and even spiritually I felt hopeless. It looked so dark. I had sold a business and had not gotten paid. This had led to great emotional and mental strain. For the first time in many years I couldn’t pay my obligations. Individuals I had considered closest of friends had turned away. It brought to mind something my dad told me before he died. He had said, “When times are hard you still have the same friends, it is just that now you know who they are.” This was certainly one of those times.
Four years later, as I evaluate life, I am thankful beyond measure. With the exception of a few individuals I had considered friends, God has given back everything that was lost and so much more. He opened a door for me almost 1800 miles away. God blessed me with an opportunity to heal, to grow, but most of all to do His work in Payson, Arizona. He has blessed me beyond what I deserved.
We ought to be thankful everyday. Especially this week, take the time to evaluate the things God has given you. When we do an honest evaluation we will find we ought to be “Thankful Beyond Measure.”

You are so right! “Thankful beyond measure” is how things have been for us this year. God is so good! It never ceases to amaze me how God works in our lives. The more I trust Him the more He blesses me. I shouldn’t be amazed–He said He would!
I’m so glad things are going so well in Payson. They are blessed to have you and Robbi serving with them there.
I am also thankful for friends like you and Robbi. I love you both.

Thanks Jan and we are thankful to have a friend like you. Dell
I don’t respond to blogs very much, but, in this case I will make an exception. First of all we all should pause from time to time to count our blessings and always be sure to include the most prcious blessing of all-the blood of Christ that washed away our sins. Next we should thank God for all of the relationships (good and bad) that we have had in our lives. THen we should thank Him for the opportunities that have been presented to us and the courge we had to take advantage of them. I once heard you say the lucky man could name his friends on the fingers of one hand…I just want you to know you take up one of the fingers on my hand ful of friends.

Thanks Steve you will always be counted as a friend. Standing shoulder to shoulder in the trenches builds strength of friendship that will last through eternity. Counting you as a friend and serving with you as a fellow elder is one of the bright spots in my life as a servant. May God always hold you in the hallow of His hand. dell
Well, I’m glad you had all those woes in Alabama if that’s what it took to get you & Robbi to Arizona - especially to Payson where I so much needed and still need ya’ll to be! I hope ya’ll will be around to be a help to me for a long time. You both are a great blessing to me. I’m enjoying Thanksgiving in the “Holy Land of Texas” but I look forward to getting home to Payson soon. Thanks for being my preacher but more importantly…for being my friend.
And thanks for being my friend as well. dell
I feel your writing competence very good, and can we be friends?
